Bitesize Jonah (8)

This is a first attempt at a Jonah song!
It covers 1:4-10

(It can be sung to the tune of While Shepherds Watched)

While Jonah slept
And snored away
Hidden below the deck
The captain of the ship came down
And woke him with a frown

"Care not?" said he,
- for mighty dread
had seized the sailors minds-
"This storm will surely kill us all
Rise up! Your God please call!”

"We’ve called on ours
for hours and hours
But we have been ignored.
Perhaps your God will notice us
For ours, they’re at a loss."

The sailors all
were sore afraid
their cargo overboard
but still the raging sea was churned
so to the lots they turned.

Jonah it was,
"The gods don’t lie!
Speak up and tell us why"
"I fear the LORD of heaven and earth
of land and sea and sky."

"O no" they cried
for they could see
it could not be denied
the LORD from whom this prophet fled
could leave them all for dead!

I fear it may get a little wearing to do the whole book this way to this tune!
