For I am building...

The preface held my attention with two quotes. One from the author and one from the late Miles Thomson.

'Adventures of faith demand faith' (Julia Cameron)

This is obvious - yet a valuable wood for trees corrective! Of course trusting in God for the future, for provision, direction, preservation, correction and all the rest demands TRUST! We cannot wait until we see the outcome of faith!

'We had, from the outset, committed ourselves not only to build a building, but to build a people; to build a church family who live under the authority of God’s Word in God’s world. It is still our prayer to keep on growing in faith as well as increasing in numbers, and to keep on training people in service, both in this country and overseas.

We want to see more people finding a personal faith in Christ, and growing in their knowledge and love of him. We want to see more people taking Scripture as their guide at school or college, and in business, commerce, education or health; more going into pastoral ministry; more working to build God’s church worldwide. We thank God for all the ways we are already seeing this happen; we pray he will enable us to carry on building for the gospel.' (Miles Thomson writing concerning the building work at St Nick’s Sevenoaks) {interestingly - or not!- where John Donne was Rector from 1616 until 1631}.
